IRON Kings returned to FRC Robotics this season finishing our first meet in the quarterfinals and semifinals in our second, missing state by five points. Robotics combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” The students have a six week build time to put together a robot which translates into four-hour practices every night and eight-hour Saturdays for the build season. I love robotics because its one of the very few sports that every team member can go pro.
