Meet the 6th Grade STEM TEAM:

Mrs. Joyce Bower – Science/Art

Ms. Joyce Bower is a 6th grade science teacher at Lewis Cass Jr. High School. She has been teaching for 35 years, and in a variety of grades and subjects.  Those subjects being 2nd grade, 4th grade, 6th grade and Art.  She has obtained both my bachelors and masters degree in Education from Indiana University.During her many years of teaching, she has raised 3 kids, which are all grown and have started families of their own. She has three grandkids. This is her 4th year teaching science and STEM.  She has really enjoyed teaching STEM and believes it is a very important part of the Science program. It challenges the student in many ways that your typical “book”  just can’t do by using problem-solving, higher level thinking skills, and working together.   Growth mindset is also used by integrating multiple subjects, especially creativity, which she believes has been lacking in our children’s lives. She is hopeful that the STEM program will help develop students who will have great critical minds, which will lead to new generations of innovative thinkers!
